The challenge
Several switches across Butyl Products’ units were approaching the end of their supported lifecycle, risking both security exposure and non-compliance with Cyber Essentials. Network visibility was limited, making it difficult to track connected devices or respond quickly to issues. On top of this, the physical cabinet layout had grown inefficient over time, with longer patch leads and inconsistent switch placement creating clutter and limiting effective cooling.
What Sprint did
Sprint Integration carried out a full network review across all three units and deployed four Zyxel 48-port PoE+ switches, replacing a mix of ageing Cisco devices and consolidating the network into a more streamlined setup. Cabling and network sockets were tested and expanded where needed, and cabinets were reworked with shorter 25cm patch cables for a cleaner, more accessible layout. All switches were configured to a consistent baseline, brought fully up to date, and onboarded onto a cloud management platform for improved visibility, logging, and centralised control.
